What do I need a reset chip for?

The printer tracks page counts/status via the chip. After refilling or replacing without a new OEM chip, the reset chip resets the counter so that fill level and function are detected correctly.

Does the reset chip fit all 4700 models?

Yes, the Q5950A–Q5953A chips are designed for the entire Color LaserJet 4700 series (4700/4700n/4700dn/4700dtn/4700ph+) – please note the color assignment (BK/C/M/Y).

How do I safely replace the reset chip?

Switch off the printer, remove the cartridge, carefully detach the old chip and insert the new one in the identical orientation. Do not touch the contacts. Then print a test page.

Which maintenance parts are relevant and when should they be replaced?

Fuser kit for fixing errors/smearing, transfer kit for color streaks or uneven transfer. Paper feeder/printer stand depending on paper requirements. The device menu provides information and remaining-life values.
